MENA countries have built a quiet empire of world records over the last 20 years. Five your kid will love.

1. Burj Khalifa — tallest building

828m. Dubai. Since 2010, it has held the "tallest building on Earth" record and looks likely to keep it for another decade.

2. Jeddah Tower — the in-progress record

When completed, will be over 1 km tall. Construction paused, then resumed. The record-in-waiting.

3. Deep Dive Dubai — deepest pool

60 metres deep. Deepest swimming pool in the world. Used for diving training and underwater filming.

4. Jais Flight — longest zip line

2.83 km. In Ras al-Khaimah. Over Jebel Jais. You reach speeds above 150 km/h.

5. Formula Rossa — fastest roller coaster

240 km/h. Ferrari World, Abu Dhabi. Goggles required to protect against the air and insects at that speed.
